The Beach

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

A couple of weeks ago we decided we needed to take a day off and head to the beach.  We headed to Lake Huron and it was the most peaceful, calm and sunny day.  Amazing!  I love the summer!

Shell Design Weddings @ Work - Pt. 2

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Here is the next installment of the ‘behind the scenes’ with Shell Design Weddings at work.   This is Farrah & Andy at their wedding site visit.  The final walk-through before the big day and their next visit to Kitchener.  I can’t wait for the big day!

The Waterloo Region Museum is a great space for a wedding!   It is very unique with beautiful lighting from all the windows, stunning architecture and grounds and it is the gateway to Doon Village Crossroads so there are alot of options for photos & ceremony locations!   There is also a theatre that seats over 100 people - a unique option for the wedding ceremony.  I’m so excited to see this wedding come together!

Shell Design Weddings at Work!

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

My hubby and I decided to do a biz project together!  He is a Photographer, I’m a Wedding Planner who never has enough photos of me at work, so we decided to change that!

One of my business challenges this season is to plan a wedding from a distance. I believe that planning my own wedding with my now husband living in Indianapolis at the time gave me all the tools I need to conquer this challenge head on!  I’m an expert at skype, have formed an amazing network of industry professionals and my couple gave me full creative control.  So, needless to say, it’s been amazing!

Farrah & Andy are journalist living in Qatar.  Andy is from England, Farrah is from Kitchener. They’re getting married in July at The Museum in Kitchener.  They just had their one and only visit to Kitchener together before the wedding.  Greg and I decided to capture the planning process. Here we are at our decor meeting with Lynne from Special Events & Flowers! If you ever get the chance to work with Lynne - go for it - she rocks!  Stay tuned for the venue visit and then the wedding day as it all comes together!

Style Me Pretty

Monday, October 18th, 2010

One of my business goals is to be featured on the elite list of vendors on Style Me Pretty!  I’m inspired by this site on a daily basis and am always sending clients to it as well.  So, I was soooo excited when our wedding was featured!  My friend Erin Samuell is a ‘Little Black Book’ vendor (thrilled for her and a bit jealous!) and had her photos featured.  Super-excited!  Check out Shell Design Weddings Wedding on Style Me Pretty!   :)

The Gay Wedding Show

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I’m super-excited to be taking part in the only show of it’s kind in Canada - The Gay Wedding Show!  The show premiered in London last year and had such great success, they’ve added another show in Kitchener.   The show will be held on Sunday, February 28th at the Delta Kitchener from 12 - 5pm.

My friend Erin Samuell of A Simple Photograph and I will be joining me!  And, I will get the chance to speak to guests on ‘Ways to bring the WOW factor to a Wedding by Designing like a Pro!’  I can’t wait to support same-sex couples in their planning needs.  It’s something I feel passionate about and so lucky to live in a country that supports gay marriage.   Yay for K-W on the first Gay Wedding  Show!

Check us out this weekend!  You won’t be able to miss the Photobooth backdrop designed by Erin.

Happy New Year

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

To all of the clients I had the pleasure of working with over the last year, and to the clients I will work with in 2008, I am wishing you all a Happy New Year. May the upcoming year bring you joy, love, laughter and success.

As I reflect back on 2007, I am grateful for the amazing support of my family and friends as I launch my wedding planning business. I could not be successful in any part of my life, both professionally and personally, without them by my side. And as I look ahead to 2008, I am excited for the many opportunities that await me!

Welcome Back

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Hi everyone,

It’s hard to believe that it has been almost six months since I sent out my welcoming blog! How the time flies!

This summer was a whirlwind! Between moving into a new home, attending and planning weddings and travelling, it’s hard to know where the time went. Even though I had the time of my life, unfortunately my website and blog did not get much attention! So, I am back with alot of great updates.

Please check back soon to my portfolio and raves section on my website. Great friends of mine, Suzanne & Derek, got married in beautiful Nova Scotia on 2007’s most popular wedding date: 07.07.07! Derek will never have a problem remembering their anniversary, right Derek?! I was an attendant and planner. It was a fabulous experience! Here is a sneak peak of some of the photos courtesy of Tim Oben from Intrepid Photo. This will give you an idea of the atmosphere and beauty that we were surrounded by that day. Breathtaking!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Welcome to Shell Design Weddings

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Shell Design Weddings blog! This is the place to find up to date information on events, trends, and anything else that I feel is significant or just really fun! There are a few important people that I would like to thank because without them, this website would not have been possible – or look so great!

I would like to thank Richard Smallbone for all of his time and effort in creating this fantastic website. He has been very patient! Richard is extremely talented, and went above and beyond my expectations to produce exactly what I was looking for.

I would also like to thank Tanya Sood — my nearest and dearest ‘soul sister’ — for her help with all of the fabulous content material on the website. Tanya captured Shell Design Weddings style and passion with her words. Her talents as a writer are extraordinary! You are my rock, girl!

And finally, thanks to Leah Snyder of L Photography. Leah is responsible for the photos on the services and about sections of my website and did a fantastic job! Her talents are incredible and I know we will be doing business together. You must check out her work at www.lphotography.ca.
