Flower School NY

I had the opportunity to take part in the ‘Introductory Intensive Class’ at Flower School NY located in New York City.  The school’s artistic director, Michael George, is world-renowned!  He is known for his minimilistic, contemporary designing style.  All the instructors at Flower School NY have been trained by him and therefore teach his style.

I had the pleasure of being instructed by Felipe Sastre who brings years of experience in floral design.  We were taught  flower conditioning, criss-cross technique with roses, graphic design with soft-stemmed florals, how to choose the proper vase, composition arrangements and hand-wiring a bridal bouquet using cymbidium orchids.   What an amazing experience! The class was made up of only 8 students which made for alot of one-on-one training.  I was surprised at what I learned and accomplished in 4-short days!

This was a personal interest course and one that I know will benefit me in Wedding Planning.  I will better be able to give floral design advice during the wedding planning process.  I may end up in the floral business after all, time will tell!  Wouldn’t my mom be proud!
